Lauren Marsh has been dancing since the time she could walk. A Mountain Brook native, she began dancing under the direction of her mother, Susan Marsh. Her passion and talent for dance was evident from the very beginning, as she competed and earned overall highpoint awards in numerous competitions including Dance Masters of America, where she won the title of Junior Miss Dance. Lauren also toured with the State of Alabama Ballet and was captain of the Dorians dance team at Mountain Brook High School. As a Dorian, she was a three-year All-American at camp and was invited to be an NCA instructor.

Lauren’s dance experience spans all across the country. She has trained with some of the best in the industry at Edge Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles and STEPS and Broadway Dance Center in New York City. Some of her most notable performances include the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Orange Bowl halftime show.

After graduating from the University of Alabama with a degree in Communications, Lauren brought her years of training all over the nation back to Mountain Brook in hopes of developing a dance program. The timing was perfect! Mountain Brook Community Education was ready for a new dance instructor. Dance with Lauren was founded in 2006 and opened with 58 children in the first recital.

Since then, Lauren has continued to share her love for dance with children in the community. Hundreds of students now come through the doors each year at Mountain Brook Elementary to dance with Miss Lauren. The community has embraced this program because it provides an accepting and encouraging environment that prepares the dancers to reach their goals for dance teams, theater, and beyond. She teaches the students not only dance lessons, but also life lessons that they will carry with them far beyond their time at DWL.
